COOKED CHICKEN RECIPE

Although this is NOT a fully balanced diet for your cat, it is also a great way to boost important protein intake, with real meat. It is great to use to entice cats or kittens (any age) to eat and also to get more water in their diet. A wonderful addition to commercial canned food - which is how I usually use it for my own cats.

Note: you can certainly make less (or more) than this - just adjust the quantities accordingly.

Ingredients:
10 lbs Boneless thighs or leg meat (cheapest is fine and good)
3 carrots peeled and sliced
2 stalks of celery sliced
small bunch of Italian parsley
1-2 bay leaves
2 Tbsp sea or kosher salt

Method:
Wash chicken and put in large pot with carrots, celery, parsley, bay leaves and salt. Just cover with cold water. Bring to boil and then lower heat, simmer for 35 minutes or until carrots are soft. Cool slightly. Put in containers, coarsely pull apart meat with two forks or tongs and cover with broth. Cool until warm but no longer hot. Refrigerate and then freeze as desired. Defrost and heat in microwave to just over room temp right before serving.

Serve chicken with broth. I mix mine with canned food. You can reheat the chicken as many times as needed. You don’t really need to chop further - they will eat it and tear apart on their own. DO NOT SKIM THE FAT. Fat is good, tasty and important for healthy skin and fur!

Note: You can also use chicken with bones, such as leg/thigh. Just remove the meat when cool enough to handle and throw away the bones, freeze.
